Maltahöhe — Hardap Desert Fuel and Resupply Crossroads
Maltahöhe is a small Namibian farm town sitting at the junction of the C14 and C36 — two of the key arteries feeding into the Hardap Region’s remote interior. There’s a filling station here, a small supermarket, and a guesthouse or two. It’s not glamorous, but it’s real infrastructure before long stretches of corrugated gravel and desert nothingness. If you’re running south from the Naukluft toward Helmeringhausen or east toward Mariental, this is your last guaranteed diesel and food top-up.
The town sits at roughly 1,200 metres and the roads out of it — especially the C14 south toward Helmeringhausen — are classic Namibian washboard that’ll rattle every fastener on your rig loose. Top off here regardless of what your gauge says. Cell signal exists in town but disappears fast once you head into the desert. Verify fuel availability ahead — hours at the pump are not always predictable.
Last fuel before the Naukluft swallows you.
