Kings Canyon National Park Zumwalt Meadows Trail
This trailhead provides access to one of the Sierra’s most accessible alpine meadows, a flat 1.5-mile boardwalk loop that winds through Zumwalt Meadows surrounded by towering granite walls. The trail offers spectacular views of North Dome and Grand Sentinel while staying level along the Kings River. Popular with families and photographers, especially in late spring when wildflowers peak and the river runs high from snowmelt.
Located at the end of Kings Canyon Scenic Byway, 6 miles past Cedar Grove Village. Parking fills early on weekends during peak season (May-September). The road is typically closed from November through April due to snow. Restrooms available but no drinking water at the trailhead itself.
