Buckeye Flat Campground
Buckeye Flat sits along the Middle Fork Kaweah River in the lower elevations of Sequoia National Park, surrounded by massive granite boulders and oak woodlands. The 28 sites are tucked between rocks and trees, offering decent privacy despite the campground’s popularity. River access is excellent for swimming and cooling off during hot Central Valley summers. Sites accommodate RVs up to 24 feet, though the winding park road makes larger rigs challenging.
Open March through September, the campground fills quickly on weekends and holidays. No reservations — it’s first-come, first-served. The narrow, winding road from Three Rivers gains 2,000 feet in elevation with some tight curves. Cell service is minimal, and the nearest resupply is back down in Three Rivers.
