Jawbone Canyon Dispersed Camping

Scattered sites along the canyon wash with Joshua trees and red rock formations — a quiet staging area for Mojave Desert adventures.

This BLM dispersed area stretches along Jawbone Canyon Road with dozens of pullouts and flat spots tucked between Joshua trees and desert scrub. Sites range from tight single-vehicle spots to larger clearings that can handle groups. No amenities except what you bring, but the red rock canyon walls and desert views make it worth the dry camping.

Access is via good gravel road suitable for any vehicle, though some of the better sites require short spurs that favor high-clearance. Popular with dirt bikers on weekends, but midweek stays are typically quiet. Water and resupply in Mojave, about 20 miles north.
