BLM Jawbone Canyon Dispersed Sites
A string of unofficial dispersed sites scattered along Red Rock Canyon Road and its tributaries in the El Paso Mountains. Most spots accommodate 1-3 rigs with decent spacing between sites, offering views across the Mojave’s signature Joshua tree forest. The area gets heavy OHV traffic on weekends, particularly during cooler months when the nearby Jawbone Canyon trail system draws dirt bike and ATV crowds.
Access via paved Red Rock Canyon Road from Highway 14, then dirt spurs. Sites range from pull-offs suitable for any vehicle to rougher spots requiring high clearance. No amenities whatsoever — pack everything in and out. Fire restrictions often in effect May through October.
