Innamincka Regional Reserve — Town Common Campground

Established Campground

Innamincka Town Common is the go-to camp for anyone gearing up for or winding down from the Strzelecki Track. Sits on the edge of the Cooper Creek floodplain — flat, shaded by coolibahs, with the creek visible when there’s water in it. Run by the SA Department for Environment and Water, it’s a proper designated campground with flushing toilets, hot showers, fire rings, and picnic tables. Fills up over Easter and school holidays — book ahead or arrive early. Campfire rules apply; check with the rangers on-site or at the visitor centre.

Access is off the main dirt road through Innamincka township — no real drama getting in, though the town roads can be soft after rain. Fuel, basic supplies, and a cold beer are available at the Innamincka Trading Post next door, making this the last proper services stop before you commit to the track heading south toward Lyndhurst. Check conditions before you leave — the Cooper can cut access fast.
