Ghanzi — Central Kalahari Road Junction and Town Viewpoint

Point of Interest

Ghanzi sits at the crossroads of the Trans-Kalahari Highway and the tracks fanning north into the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. It’s a dusty, working Botswana town — not a tourist trap — with a fuel station, a small supermarket, and a handful of lodges catering to overland rigs passing through. The flat acacia savanna stretches in every direction, and the light here at sunset is the kind that makes you stop and stare. Fill every tank and every water container before leaving.

The town itself is straightforward to navigate. ATMs exist but can run dry on weekends, so carry pula in cash. Verify fuel availability at the station before assuming — shortages happen in this part of Botswana. This is your last guaranteed resupply before Maun or Nata depending on your route.

Last real resupply before the Kalahari swallows you.
