This free BLM campground sits right at the Fortymile River bridge on the Taylor Highway, offering about 20 sites scattered along the river. Basic facilities include vault toilets and fire rings, but no water. Sites accommodate everything from tents to big rigs, though some spots are more level than others. River access for fishing and water filtering.
Popular stop for overlanders taking the Taylor Highway detour to Chicken and the Top of the World Highway. Can get busy in summer, especially with miners and locals. No reservations, first-come basis. Road in is paved Taylor Highway but can be rough in shoulder seasons.
