Sits right on the shore of a small reservoir at 10,000 feet, giving you that alpine lake vibe without the crowds of the bigger destinations. Twenty-something sites spread along the water, mix of RVs and tents, with fire rings and vault toilets. Gets busy on summer weekends with Denver folks, but weekdays are mellow. Fire restrictions common in late summer.
Easy gravel access off Highway 285, about 15 minutes south of Fairplay proper. Perfect staging area for Weston Pass or Bill Moore Lake runs. Water’s cold even in July, but the sunsets over the Mosquito Range make up for it. Open roughly Memorial Day through September, weather depending.
