Douthat State Park Campground
Douthat sits at 2,400 feet in the George Washington National Forest, wrapped around a 50-acre lake with swimming beach and boat rentals. The 81-site campground offers both RV hookups and tent sites, with hot showers, bathhouses, and a camp store. Sites are well-spaced among mature hardwoods, though summer weekends fill up fast with families from Richmond and DC.
Access is all paved via Route 629 from I-64. The park stays open year-round but water gets shut off at sites November through March. Best fishing is early morning for bass and bluegill. Trail system connects to wider George Washington National Forest backcountry.
