Denali State Park Byers Lake Campground

73 sites along a pristine lake with unobstructed views of Denali, 40 miles south of the national park entrance.

This state park campground sits on the shores of Byers Lake with direct views of Denali’s south face when the mountain decides to show itself. The 73 sites range from lakefront spots to wooded areas back from the water. Most sites handle big rigs, though some are tight for longer setups. Vault toilets, hand-pump water, fire rings, and picnic tables throughout. No hookups. Gets busy July-August, especially weekends.

Access via mile 147 Parks Highway, then 2.5 miles on paved park road. Open mid-May through September. Mosquitoes can be brutal in June and early July. The boat launch gets used heavily by locals fishing for rainbow trout and grayling.
