Custer National Forest Pryor Mountain Dispersed Area
Scattered primitive sites along the ridge roads in the Pryor Mountains, offering expansive views across the Bighorn Basin and occasional sightings of the famous wild horse herds. Sites range from windswept ridgetop spots to more sheltered draws with juniper and pine. The area can handle rigs up to about 35 feet on the main forest roads, though some spur roads are better suited for smaller vehicles. Popular with horse watchers and hunters during season.
Access via multiple forest roads off Highway 37 south of Bridger — roads are maintained gravel turning to dirt, passable for most vehicles in dry conditions but can get slick when wet. Water is scarce, pack plenty. Windy at elevation, secure gear well. Fire restrictions common during summer months.
