Custer National Forest Castle Rock Creek Dispersed Sites
A handful of informal camping spots strung along Castle Rock Creek Road, offering decent separation from the main drag and seasonal creek access. Sites are mostly dirt pullouts that can fit medium-sized rigs, with natural windbreaks from scattered pines and rock outcrops. Expect moderate use during hunting season and summer weekends, but it stays pretty quiet otherwise. Fire restrictions typically kick in mid-July through September.
Access via Forest Road 3072 off Highway 310 — the road starts paved but turns to maintained gravel after 3 miles. Can get muddy during spring melt and after heavy rains. No facilities, pack it out. Best spring through fall; winter access depends on snow levels.
