Crystal Geyser Natural CO2 Spring
This unusual cold-water geyser sits right on the Green River, shooting mineral-rich water 30+ feet into the air every 8-22 hours. The eruptions are powered by underground CO2, not geothermal heat like most geysers. The colorful mineral deposits create an otherworldly orange and white mound against red rock canyon walls. No facilities here — just a small parking area and the geyser itself.
Access requires 4.5 miles on a rough, washboarded dirt road off US-191. High-clearance 2WD can make it in dry conditions, but 4WD is safer after any weather. The road can be impassable when wet. No cell service. Timing eruptions is pure luck, but even between shows, the mineral formations and riverside setting make it worth the drive.
