Coober Pedy Underground Books and Fuel
This quirky outback town sits at the junction of the Stuart Highway and Oodnadatta Track, making it the natural last resupply before heading into the desert. The main fuel stations are above ground, but half the town’s shops are literally carved into the hillside — including a bookstore where you can grab maps and local intel. Stock up here on water, food, and spare parts.
The town gets busy with tour buses during winter months, but early morning is usually quiet. Fuel prices are higher than Adelaide but reasonable for the middle of nowhere. Underground camping is available at several motels if the weather turns nasty.
Last fuel and supplies before the Oodnadatta Track.
