Cascada El Velo de la Novia Trailhead

Trailhead

The trailhead sits at a small parking area off the road between Manizales and the Los Nevados park entrance. A well-marked 2km path climbs through dense cloud forest populated with giant tree ferns and bromeliads. The waterfall drops 150 meters down a sheer basalt wall, earning its ‘bride’s veil’ nickname from the way it fans out over the black rock. During dry season the flow diminishes, but the misty microclimate keeps everything lush year-round.

The trail gains 300 meters of elevation and can be muddy after rain — waterproof boots recommended. Early morning offers the best chance of clear views before afternoon clouds roll in. No facilities at the trailhead, just a small dirt parking area that fills up on weekends. Bring rain gear regardless of forecast.
