Cadillac Ranch
This legendary land art installation features ten classic Cadillacs planted nose-first in the ground at the same angle as the Great Pyramid of Giza, creating one of Route 66’s most iconic stops. The cars span from 1949 to 1963, representing the golden age of the tail fin, and visitors are actively encouraged to bring spray paint and add their own art to the constantly evolving canvas. Located in a working wheat field west of Amarillo, the installation draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
Access is free and always open — just park along the frontage road and hop the fence. Bring your own spray paint; the nearest hardware store is back in town. The wheat field can be muddy after rain, and West Texas wind is relentless, so secure loose items.
