Brasstown Creek
Brasstown Creek cuts through a granite gorge about 15 minutes from Young Harris, creating a series of pools and cascades that run strong even in dry summers. The main swimming hole is 8 feet deep with clear, cold mountain water — perfect for a quick dip and filling water jugs. Granite slabs on both sides make good spots to spread out gear for drying.
Access is via a short dirt track off Forest Road 180, passable by any vehicle but gets muddy after rain. The creek runs year-round but is coldest in winter and spring snowmelt. No camping allowed directly at the water, but there’s dispersed camping up the ridge.
