BLM Hole-in-the-Wall Dispersed Area

Dispersed Camping

Scattered sites along dirt spurs beneath towering volcanic cliffs and bizarre rock formations that look like something from another planet. Most sites offer natural windbreaks and privacy, with fire rings at established spots. Gets busy on weekends with rock hounds and stargazers — arrive early or continue deeper for solitude. No facilities, pack it all out.

Access via Black Canyon Road from I-40, then 10 miles of good dirt road suitable for any vehicle. Best spring through fall when temperatures drop. Road can be sandy after storms but generally well-maintained by BLM.
