Arapaho National Forest Guanella Pass Dispersed Area

Dispersed Camping

Scattered dispersed sites along Guanella Pass Road (FR 381) between Georgetown and Grant, offering some of Colorado’s most accessible high-altitude camping. Sites sit between 9,000-11,000 feet with expansive views of Mount Bierstadt, Mount Evans, and the Continental Divide. Most spots accommodate mid-size rigs, though turnarounds are tight. Popular with climbers hitting nearby 14ers and leaf peepers in September.

Road is paved to Georgetown, then good gravel to the pass. Sites fill quickly on summer weekends. Afternoon thunderstorms are common July-August. Snow closes the pass typically November through May, though lower elevation sites near Georgetown remain accessible longer.
