Apple Orchard Falls Trailhead Blue Ridge Parkway
The trailhead sits at a small parking area at Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 78.4, elevation 3,950 feet. The 2.5-mile out-and-back trail drops 1,200 feet through hardwood forest to reach Apple Orchard Falls, a 200-foot cascade that runs strongest during spring snowmelt and after heavy rains. Trail surface is rocky with some root sections but well-marked throughout. Parking fills early on weekends during peak foliage season.
Access is paved via the Blue Ridge Parkway, but winter ice closures can shut down this section from December through March. No facilities at the trailhead beyond the gravel parking area for about 20 vehicles. The nearby Apple Orchard Mountain has a fire tower visible from the trail if you’re looking for additional hiking options.
