Ammassalik Island Research Station Water Source
This natural spring provides the cleanest freshwater source on Ammassalik Island, flowing year-round from the bedrock beneath the research station complex. The water is ice-cold and crystal clear, tested regularly by station personnel. Multiple overlanding expeditions and scientific teams use this as their primary water resupply point before heading inland.
Located about 200 meters uphill from the main research buildings, marked by a small wooden shelter built around the spring head. Access is unrestricted but respect the research station’s operations. Water flow is consistent even during dry periods, making this the most reliable source on the island.
