Fourmile Campground — Pike-San Isabel National Forest

Fourmile sits in a tight ponderosa and aspen corridor along Fourmile Creek on the south end of the Arkansas Valley, about 9 miles up CR 371 from Buena Vista. It’s a small, quiet developed camp with a handful of sites — expect fire rings, vault toilets, and a bear-country vibe. Sites are shaded and spaced reasonably well. Peak summer weekends draw families and anglers, so get in early or go mid-week. No hookups, no dump station. Bring your own water or treat from the creek.

Access via CR 371 (Fourmile Road) out of Buena Vista is good-quality dirt — passable for most high-clearance rigs and careful 2WD trucks. From here you can loop south toward Weston Pass Road or continue higher into the San Isabel backcountry. Season runs roughly late May through October depending on snowpack. Fire restrictions apply in dry summers — check with the Salida Ranger District before you light up.
