Paraitepui Village — Track End Dispersed Camp

Paraitepui is the Pemón indigenous village at the road terminus east of the Gran Sabana highway, and it is where virtually every Roraima expedition leaves the vehicles behind. Overlanders park on flat dirt ground at the edge of the village, typically in a designated area near the community. It’s spartan — no formal facilities — but the community sometimes provides basic food and you can hire local Pemón guides and porters here, which is mandatory for the Roraima climb. Respect the community, pay the local entry fees when asked, and do not leave gear unattended for extended periods.

The rough dirt track from Troncal 10 to Paraitepui runs approximately 28 km and requires 4WD — rocky, eroded, and wet season crossings can make it impassable. Dry season (November–April) is the reliable window. INPARQUES permit required; guides must be arranged through the local Pemón community cooperative. This is the definitive staging point for the circuit.
