Ghanzi Farm Campsite — Kalahari Mid-Route Stop

Ghanzi sits almost dead centre on the Trans-Kalahari Crossing and has long served as the critical mid-route staging point for rigs coming through from Windhoek or pushing west from Maun. The town has fuel (verify pumps are operational before you arrive — stock-outs happen), a small supermarket, and established farm campsites on the outskirts offering basic ablutions, fire rings, and enough shade to make a midday stop worthwhile. The Kalahari Ghanzi Camp and various private farm operations on the D’Kar corridor provide legitimate pitches for overlanders. It’s a working agricultural and San community hub — no flash safari gloss here.

Roads into Ghanzi are tarred on the A3 Trans-Kalahari Highway; farm camp access tracks are typically well-graded sand and gravel. This is Kalahari proper — nights get cold fast in winter (June–August), so don’t get caught without a sleeping bag. Cell coverage is available in town on Mascom network.
