Isle of Man

Ramsey — Isle of Man Northern Fuel and TT Mountain Course Gateway

Town / Resupply

Ramsey is the Island’s second town and your best resupply point if you’re working the north. There are fuel stations on Parliament Street and the A2 approach, a Co-op supermarket, and a handful of cafés and pubs worth an hour of your time. The harbour front is tight but scenic, and the town acts as a natural staging point before ascending the Mountain Course via the A18 or dropping onto the coastal roads toward the Point of Ayre lighthouse at the island’s northernmost tip. It’s a proper town — not a tourist trap — with locals who’ll give you straight directions.

From here you can run the A18 Mountain Road up through Guthrie’s Memorial toward Snaefell without any technical off-road driving — all paved — but the exposed ridge in bad weather deserves respect. TT Fortnight (late May to early June) turns Ramsey into organised chaos; arrive before 7am or after 9pm to move freely. Rest of the year it’s quiet and easy to navigate.
