Tórshavn — Tinganes Peninsula Harbour Staging and Capital Resupply
Tórshavn is where you sort your logistics in the Faroes. The capital sits on Streymoy and holds the islands’ best concentration of fuel stations, grocery stores (Bonus and Miklagarður are the main ones), hardware, and marine supply. The Tinganes peninsula jutting into the harbour is the historic seat of the Løgting — grass-roofed red-painted warehouses that have been here since the Viking age. It’s worth parking and walking it. The SMS shopping centre area has most services overlanders need. Population around 21,000, which makes it feel like a genuine city by Faroese standards.
Multiple fuel stations operate around the capital — Magn and Shell are the main branded options. Ferries to the southern islands depart from the harbour. Roads into town are paved and well-maintained. If you’re here in January or February, daylight is brutal short — plan your moves accordingly. Cell coverage is full throughout the capital area.
Faroe capital. Fuel up, stock up, move out.
