Cliffs of Moher — Atlantic Edge Clifftop Viewpoint

Point of Interest

The Cliffs of Moher on County Clare’s Wild Atlantic Way are the real deal — sheer 214-metre drops, Hag’s Head to O’Brien’s Tower, with the Aran Islands sitting out in Galway Bay on a clear day. The official visitor centre sits at the main car park off the R478 and handles serious crowds in summer. Get here early morning or push into late evening to dodge the tour buses and actually hear the wind and surf.

The clifftop path is surfaced but exposed — wind gusts can be genuinely violent, so keep back from the edge. Nearest fuel and resupply is Lahinch or Liscannor, both within 5km. Road to the car park is fully paved, any vehicle handles it fine. Summer runs May through August gets extremely busy — shoulder season is far more rewarding.

214m of vertical rock into the Atlantic.
