Darrington — Sauk River Road Fuel and Town Resupply
Darrington is a small timber town at the confluence of the Sauk and Stillaguamish rivers, and it punches above its weight as an overlander resupply. There’s fuel in town, a grocery store for a real food run, and it’s the last stop before the road system gets serious heading north toward Bedal, Suiattle River Road, and the FS 22 network into the Darrington Ranger District backcountry. The ranger station on the north end of town is worth a stop for current road conditions and fire closure updates.
Cell signal is decent in town but drops fast once you head up any of the forest roads. Fuel here before going anywhere — the next option heading north or east into the mountains is a long way off. The Mountain Loop Highway through town is the key artery connecting Granite Falls overlanders coming from the south with the Darrington backcountry to the north.
Last fuel before the Darrington backcountry.
