Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest — Bumping Lake Campground
Bumping Lake Campground sits along the eastern shore of Bumping Lake Reservoir at roughly 3,400 feet in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. It’s a USFS-managed campground with over 40 sites, vault toilets, and a boat launch — one of the better-developed camps in this corridor. The lake is rimmed by old-growth and subalpine forest, and the surrounding trails reach into the William O. Douglas Wilderness. It draws hikers, horse packers, and anglers, but there’s enough room that it rarely feels crushed even on summer weekends.
Access is via Forest Road 1800 (Bumping Lake Road) off US-12 near Naches — paved most of the way, accessible to any tow rig. A reasonable basecamp if you’re running the Wenas Creek Road area or coming at the Cascades from the east side. Typically open late May through October depending on snowpack. Reserve ahead on summer weekends — it does fill.
