Mayo Lake Territorial Campground — Mayo Road

Mayo Lake Territorial Campground is the kind of place you find after a long dusty haul up the Silver Trail — big lake views, a handful of well-spaced sites, pit toilets, fire rings, and enough room for a truck-and-trailer rig to breathe. The lake is cold but swimmable in summer, and the fishing can be decent for pike and lake trout. It’s a solid base camp if you’re planning multiple days on the Highland mining roads above Keno City or scouting the Stewart River drainage.

Access is off Mayo Road north of the town of Mayo — gravel surface, generally passable for any 2WD but watch for rough sections after rain. Sites fill faster on long weekends in July and August; arrive mid-week or mid-afternoon for best pick. No hookups, no reservations — first come, first camped. Treat any water pulled from the lake before drinking.
