Kluane Lake — Pine Lake Territorial Campground
Pine Lake Territorial Campground sits just off the Alaska Highway near Haines Junction, on a small lake with Kluane’s massive peaks as the backdrop. It’s one of the more developed territorial campgrounds in the Yukon — over 30 sites, flush toilets in season, fire rings, potable water, and enough room to swing a rig with a trailer. It serves as the eastern staging point for the Kluane Lake north shore road runs toward Congdon Creek and beyond. Expect a mix of Alaska Highway through-travelers and serious backcountry rigs working Kluane’s edge routes.
Access is straightforward off the Alaska Highway and paved to the campground entrance — any rig can get here. The site can fill on long weekends in July and August, but midweek you’ll usually have breathing room. Water is available on-site in summer; confirm before late-season visits as services shut down with the frost. Bears are active in the area — treat this like serious bear country.
