Braeburn Lodge — Klondike Highway Yukon River Flats Viewpoint
Braeburn Lodge sits at Kilometre 56 of the North Klondike Highway (Highway 2), roughly halfway between Whitehorse and Carmacks. It’s been a fuel-and-cinnamon-bun stop for overlanders, truckers, and dog mushers for decades. The surrounding flats give you a wide open read on the Yukon interior — boreal forest stretching in every direction, the terrain beginning to flatten as you push north toward the Dawson Range. This is one of the last reliable fuel and food options before Carmacks and a natural staging point for routes into the Dawson Range backcountry.
The lodge itself is rustic and no-frills — gas pumps, a small diner famous for oversized cinnamon buns, and basic supplies. Road access is paved. Cell service is thin here. Verify current fuel availability before you roll in as hours and services at remote Yukon lodges can shift seasonally.
