Spruce Lake Protected Area — Trigger Lake Recreation Site
Trigger Lake is a small, quiet recreation site tucked into the South Chilcotin Mountains — one of the lesser-traveled access points into the Spruce Lake Protected Area. You’ll find basic flat tent pads, a pit toilet, and direct lake access for water (filter it). It sits at elevation, which keeps bugs manageable and crowds nearly non-existent outside of August long weekend. Horse parties and hunters are common in late summer and fall. No boat launch, no hookups — just trees, alpine air, and the sound of nothing.
Access is via the Gun Creek FSR out of Gold Bridge. Road quality varies by season — typically high-clearance 4WD territory after snowmelt softens the upper sections. Confirm conditions locally at Tyax Adventures in Gold Bridge before heading in. Snow possible at the site well into June.
Quiet alpine lake camp, South Chilcotin edge.
