Sparwood — Husky Travel Center and Grocery — Highway 3 East Kootenay Resupply
Sparwood sits on Highway 3 at the mouth of the Elk Valley and it’s the last town with real services before you head north toward the Elk Pass FSR, Potato Creek FSR, and the Alberta border country. The Husky Travel Center here handles diesel and regular, and the adjacent grocery and IGA options in town mean you can actually restock a cooler and grab propane canisters without backtracking to Fernie or Cranbrook. The town itself is worth a slow roll through — world’s largest truck parked roadside, coal industry heritage, decent fuel prices relative to the mountain corridor.
Highway 3 access is straightforward — pavement all the way in. For rigs heading into Elk Valley backcountry, Sparwood is your fuel and food pin before the gravel starts. Fernie is 25 km west if you need a backup option. Cell service is full in town.
Last real stop before Elk Valley backcountry.
