Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park Campground
Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park sits north of Pemberton off the D’Arcy Road and delivers a proper wilderness camp with a glacially fed lake, good-sized sites, and fire rings throughout. The campground runs roughly 86 sites spread across forested loops — it’s a BC Parks managed facility so you get pit toilets, picnic tables, and a bear cache setup. It fills on summer weekends but mid-week it’s quiet. The lake is fishable for rainbow trout. Elevation keeps it cooler than the valley, which matters in July.
Access is via the D’Arcy–Pemberton FSR network — mostly gravel but manageable in a stock rig in dry conditions. Snow can linger into late May. This camp sits within striking distance of the Duffey Lake Road and Carpenter Lake country, making it a useful overnight before pushing into the South Chilcotin trails. Reserve through BC Parks in peak season.
