Farewell Canyon Hoodoos — Chilcotin Viewpoint
Farwell Canyon delivers one of BC’s most underrated geological shows. The Chilcotin River has carved a deep canyon through glacial silt and clay, leaving behind a field of pale hoodoos visible from the pullout just past the one-lane suspension bridge. Bighorn sheep are regularly spotted on the canyon walls. No facilities, no crowds — just a dusty shoulder wide enough for a rig or two and a view that’ll hold your attention.
The gravel road in from Williams Lake via Gang Ranch Road is corrugated but passable by any high-clearance vehicle in dry conditions. After heavy rain it turns greasy — stock 2WD rigs should wait it out. This sits directly on the Farwell Canyon to Churn Creek Heritage Road route. No cell signal worth counting on out here.
