Stein Valley Nlaka’pamux Heritage Park — Cottonwood Creek Campground
Cottonwood Creek marks the eastern access point into Stein Valley, one of the last unlogged watersheds in southern BC. The campsite here is basic — a handful of flat spots, a pit toilet, and the sound of the Fraser River nearby. It’s the staging ground for anyone pushing into the valley or linking the Cayoosh and Nahatlatch drainages. No services, no cell, no crowds most of the time. Fires permitted in designated rings but check current BC Wildfire restrictions before you light anything.
Access is off Stein Valley Road from Lytton — about 2 km of rough dirt from the pavement. High-clearance 2WD gets you there in dry conditions. River levels in spring can limit access to the lower trail sections. No fee, no reservation. Season roughly May through October depending on snow and road conditions.
