Custer National Forest Pryor Mountains West Slope Dispersed Area

Dispersed Camping

Scattered sites along Forest Road 3085 on the western slope of the Pryor Mountains, sitting at 6,800-7,200 feet with commanding views west toward the Bighorn Basin. Most sites are small pullouts that handle 1-2 rigs, with fire rings built from local stone. Wind can be fierce — stake everything down. Water is scarce; pack what you need.

Access via gravel FR 3085 from Highway 310 near Bridger. Road is decent for high-clearance vehicles but gets rough in the upper reaches. Best season is June through September; snow closes the high country early and late.
