Little Missouri National Grassland Wannagan Creek Dispersed Area
Remote dispersed sites along Wannagan Creek in the heart of the Little Missouri grasslands, offering some of the most isolated camping in the state. Wide open prairie with scattered cottonwoods near the creek bottom, supporting larger rigs with room to spread out. Fire rings are present but bring your own water as the creek runs seasonal. Wind is constant but views stretch for miles.
Access is via graded gravel county roads that can become impassable when wet. The area sees occasional cattle grazing and hunting pressure in fall, but otherwise remains largely empty. No services within 30 miles, so come fully supplied. Best avoided during spring thaw and after heavy rains.
