Playa El Coyote Beach Camping

Remote Pacific beach with excellent surf breaks and primitive camping along miles of sandy coastline.

This wild stretch of Pacific coastline offers some of Baja Sur’s most consistent surf breaks and completely undeveloped beach camping. The long sandy beach stretches for miles with steady onshore winds and powerful waves. Camping is scattered along the dunes behind the beach, with most spots offering wind protection from low scrub. No facilities whatsoever—pack out everything and bring your own water.

Access requires 12 miles of rough dirt road from Highway 19 near Todos Santos, passable by most vehicles but slow going with deep sand sections near the beach. Popular with surfers and winter snowbirds seeking total isolation. Strong rip currents make swimming dangerous, but the sunsets and star gazing are world-class.
