BLM Vermillion Cliffs Dispersed Area
This rugged dispersed area sits at the base of the dramatic Vermillion Cliffs at 4,800 feet elevation, offering spectacular red rock camping with slots for about 15 rigs spread across sandy washes and juniper-dotted benches. The towering sandstone walls create natural wind protection and frame incredible sunrise light shows. Popular staging area for backcountry permits to The Wave and Coyote Buttes.
Access requires 8 miles of rough dirt road from Highway 89A — high-clearance recommended for the final 3 miles due to deep sand and rocky sections. No water sources; stock up in Marble Canyon 20 miles east. Area can be impassable when wet, and flash flood potential exists in the washes during monsoon season.
