Loyalsock State Forest Haystacks Road Dispersed Area
This dispersed area sits along Haystacks Road, an old logging grade that cuts through dense hardwood forest about 8 miles north of Dushore. Half a dozen unmarked pullouts accommodate rigs up to 25 feet, with most sites offering natural privacy screens from thick understory. A small unnamed creek runs parallel to the road, providing water access and background noise. Fire rings are hit-or-miss — some left by previous campers, others you’ll need to build.
Access is via a decent gravel forest road that turns to packed dirt for the final 2 miles. No signage marks the camping area — look for the established fire rings and level pullouts. Best in late spring through fall when the creek runs consistently and leaf cover provides maximum privacy.
