Boca Reservoir Dispersed Camping
Scattered along the north and east shores of Boca Reservoir, these BLM dispersed sites offer prime real estate at 5,500 feet elevation. Most spots sit within 50 yards of the water with commanding views across the reservoir to the Sierra Crest. Fire rings and well-established vehicle pullouts mark the popular spots, but you’ll find room to spread out even on busy weekends. The area gets heavy use from anglers targeting kokanee salmon and rainbow trout.
Access is via paved Boca Reservoir Road off I-80, then 2 miles of good gravel to reach the camping areas. Sites fill early Friday through Sunday during summer, but weekday solitude is common. Snow closes upper elevation access November through April. No services — pack everything in and out.
