Parque Nacional Los Alerces Camping Lago Verde
Formal campground on the shores of Lago Verde surrounded by thousand-year-old alerce trees and granite peaks. 40 sites with fire rings, picnic tables, and access to clean pit toilets. The lake provides drinking water after boiling or filtering. Gets packed during January and February with Argentine families, but quieter in shoulder seasons. No hookups, but the setting under ancient forest canopy beats any RV park.
Access via Ruta Provincial 71 from Esquel, then 35km of gravel through the park. Road is passable for any vehicle in dry conditions but gets muddy after rain. Park entry fee required at the gate. Best used as a resupply point before tackling the remote sections of Ruta 40 toward Paso Roballos.
