Río Cisnes — Valle Río Cisnes Dispersed Camp

The Río Cisnes valley cuts east–west across the Aysén region, and the river’s broad gravel bars give overlanders natural, flat camping platforms right off the Carretera Austral. The scenery is classic Patagonian — glacially carved valley walls, lenga beech forest dropping to the water, and the constant sound of fast-moving river. No facilities whatsoever, but firewood is generally available and the gravel drainage keeps tent sites relatively dry even after rain.

Access is directly from Ruta 7 at various pull-outs between La Junta and Puyuhuapi. A high-clearance vehicle can reach the best gravel bar spots; standard 4WD is not required for most of them. River levels rise fast after heavy rain — keep an eye on your pitch. Best season runs November through April; outside those months the valley gets serious precipitation and cold. No signage marks these spots.
