Mirador Volcán Villarrica
A gravel pullout on the winding road to Villarrica volcano’s ski area, providing the best vehicle-accessible views of the smoking crater and Lago Villarrica spread out below. On clear days, you can see steam rising from the active lava lake and spot climbers making the summit push. Small parking area accommodates maybe 8 vehicles — gets packed during summer when the volcano is most active.
Located 18 kilometers up from Pucón on a decent gravel road, passable by any vehicle in dry conditions but requires chains or 4WD during winter months. Morning light is best for photography. No facilities — just the view and the sound of volcanic rumbling when the wind is right.
Front-row seats to an active volcano's crater.
