Robert S. Kerr Arboretum and Nature Center

This 6,688-acre arboretum sits in the heart of the Ouachita National Forest, offering developed trails through native Oklahoma flora and a peaceful lake setting. The visitor center provides educational exhibits on local ecosystems, while the grounds feature well-maintained nature trails ranging from easy walks to moderate hikes. Several primitive camping spots are available near the lake, though facilities are basic with pit toilets and fire rings only.

Access is via paved roads from Highway 259, making it suitable for any vehicle. The area stays relatively quiet except during spring wildflower season when botanists and families visit more frequently. No reservations required for camping, and the 14-day stay limit is rarely enforced due to light use.
