Monongahela National Forest Tea Creek Dispersed Area
Tea Creek offers several primitive dispersed sites tucked into hemlock groves along the creek bottom, part of the larger Gaudineer Scenic Area known for its old-growth forest. Sites are small, fitting 1-2 rigs max, with natural fire rings and access to creek water for filtering. The area stays cool even in summer under the canopy, and you’ll hear nothing but running water and wind through ancient trees.
Access via Forest Road 27 (Tea Creek Road), which can get rough and muddy in wet conditions — high-clearance recommended. No facilities, no trash service, pack it all out. Area can flood during heavy rains, and some sites become inaccessible. Best spring through fall; winter access depends on snow and road conditions.
