Monongahela National Forest Shavers Fork Dispersed Area
Multiple pullouts and flat spots along Forest Road 209 provide streamside camping beside Shavers Fork, a renowned wild trout fishery. Sites range from single-vehicle pullouts to larger clearings that can handle multiple rigs. The sound of rushing water drowns out any road noise, and morning mist often rises from the pools. Fire restrictions apply during dry periods.
Follow FR 209 from Durbin for about 12 miles on sometimes rough gravel with creek crossings. High-clearance recommended but not essential for the first several sites. Popular with anglers during trout season, so arrive early on weekends. Road can be impassable during winter months due to snow and ice.
